Hi everyone! Today I've been preparing a special recipe for those all who love chocolate. This is my son's favourite chocolate cake. He's been making this tasty dessert with me. It takes a couple of hours to prepare it, although spending a little time in the kitchen is worthwhile when the result is amazingly good. Moreover it is an occasion to play with your children and introduce them in the wonderful world of cooking. This recipe is ideal whether you like to prepare a birthday cake, or just surprise your guests with an appetising dessert like this.
Ingredients:
(Serves 8)
6 Eggs
400 g. chocolate spread
400 g. self raising flour
2 tablespoons of sugar
500 ml. whipping cream
1 cooking chocolate bar (200 g)
3 tablespoons of butter
Difficulty and cooking time:
Medium
2 hours
Method:
Whisk the eggs in a large bowl.
Then add the chocolate spread.
Stir thoroughly using a whisk until you get an even mixture.
Carefully add the flour using a sieve and mix well.
Stir thoroughly until you get a mixture without lumps.
Spread some butter on a mould.
Then add a tablespoon of flour.
Tilt the mould with a circular motion so that the flour coats all the surface and the cake won´t get burnt.
Put the batter into the mould.
Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
Bake for 40 minutes and then let the cake cool down.
In the meantime put the whipping cream into a large bowl and add 2 tablespoons of sugar.
Beat cream until stiff peaks are about to form. Make sure not to over beat or cream might them become butter -like. You can also use a blender.
Halve the cake using a sharp knife.
Put the base of the cake on a large dish or tray.
Spread the whipped cream on the base.
Then cover it with the other half.
Put 2 tablespoons of butter into a saucepan and add chocolate portions.
Put some water in a pan a bring it to the boil.
Double boil for about 5 minutes, stirring thoroughly until the chocolate melts into the butter.
Cover the top of the cake with the resulting mixture.
Decorate with your favourite fruit or with sugar shapes.
And our delicious cake is ready!
I'm sure you are going to love it!
Hopefully see you soon,
María
