Hi everyone! Today I've been preparing these homemade cheeseburgers. I've used lean beef mince to make them. This type of meat is low in fats. It only takes a few minutes to prepare this recipe and you will enjoy all the flavour of homemade burgers, containing less calories and unhealthy fats than those from supermarkets.
As my son doesn't like fresh onions, I usually prepare some caramelised onions for him. Caramelising onions, by slowly cooking them in a little olive oil until they are browned, is an amazing way of pulling all their flavour out. I hope you like them!
Ingredients:
(Serves 4)
500 g. lean beef steak mince
1 egg
100 g breadcrumbs
Salt
Ground black pepper
2 onions
4 tomatoes
4 cheese slices
4 burger buns
Extra virgin olive oil
Difficulty and cooking time:
Easy
15 minutes
Method:
Whisk the egg.
Add the beef mince, salt to taste and sprinkle with ground black pepper.
Add the breadcrumbs.
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly using a fork.
Wet your hands, so the mince won't stick and make 4 meatballs.
Smash the meatballs using your hands to make the hamburgers.
Try to make them as round as possible.
Finely chop the onions.
Add a couple of lugs of olive oil into a frying pan and stir-fry the chopped onion for 5 minutes ,until it gets golden brown.
In the meantime half the burger buns. Wash and slice the tomatoes and put the tomato slices on each roll.
Add a teaspoonful of olive oil and cook the hamburger over a medium fire.
Turn the hamburger and cook the other side.
When it's done, reduce heat and put a slice of your favourite cheese on top for a few seconds, until it melts.
Carefully take the hamburger using a skimmer and put it onto the roll with the tomato slices.
Add as much caramelised onion as you like.
Serve it hot with a healthy lettuce salad.
Enjoy it!
See you soon.
